I want the $14,000 electric car using NIMH batteries we all know they can build that GM made sure no one would build anytime soon.]]></description>

Largely this is because a large power plant is far more efficient than a miniature one.  The hybrid is a mini power plant.  A large power plant saves 85% of the fossil fuel burned per kilowatt hour of energy produced versus the mini power plants that we drive around.  Eventually, those enormous power plants you complain about can be based on renewable power:  wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, etc.]]></description>
