Audi’s compact S1 Quattro has already been making waves with its angular curves and powerful performance levels. MINI’s response is the all-new JCW (John Cooper Works) that hopes to take on the Audi at its own game and beat it too.
While the JCW isn’t expected to make its official debut until October later this year at the Paris Motor Show, engineers from BMW’s premium small car brand have let slip that its 2.0-litre turbo engine has a power of 180 kW, 10 more than that of the Audi S1. Engine output is currently rated at 155kW/260Nm and torque figures for the new car are tipped to exceed 330Nm with the potential for a 20Nm boost. There’s still a lot of fine-tuning to be done between now and launch time, meaning that the end result may even surpass these figures.
The 2014 BMW X1 has a starting price of $28,430, with the car possessing a lot of enthusiasm and style.
