He has traded his Toyota Prius Hybrid for his new Chevrolet Volt and he was really happy to receive the first mass production electric car in the American history.Kaffee specially returned from his vacation to pick up his new car at the New Jersey plant.As per the General Motors there are around 360 Chevrolet Volt which will now be shipped to the buyers from Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.Many other Chevrolet Volt cars will also be delivered to the dealers in Washington D.C. area,California and Texas.

Chevrolet has been having a great success lately as 2011 Car of the Year by Motor Trend also went to Chevrolet Volt which is the first electric car to have won this prestigious award. The 2011 Silverado HD is built in Fort Wayne and Flint, Michigan and was released in the market in the summer with new frame and suspension technology. The truck has a more powerful Duramax diesel engine that has 397 horsepower and 765 lbs feet of torque to provide 11% better fuel efficiency than any other trucks in the market. The new 2011 Silverado HD can carry 6,635 pounds of weight without any problem. The new Silverado HD also has some new unique features like electronic trailer sway control and hill start assist specially for towing purposes.

Dan Akerson, CEO of General Motors said that they have provided more capability and technology to Silverado HD to set a new benchmark for heavy duty trucks and they are delighted that Motor Trend has agreed with their technology. Since 2006 this is the first time that one brand has won both Motor Trend Car and Truck of the Year award.

The engine has a Voltec propulsion system which can provide the car up to 379 miles of driving without charging.The propulsion system has three main components which are a long life battery,1.4 liter range-extending engine and an electric drive unit to power the wheels.

The long life battery is around 435 pounds (198.1 kgs).The battery supplies power to the electric drive unit which propels the vehicle.Overall,Chevrolet Volt can deliver 35 miles of gas and tailpipe emission free electric drive to the consumers.
