Toyota HiLux that had conquered the North Pole driving across the heart of Iceland’s devastating volcano will now be hitting Australia. In the most spoke about motor shows these days, The Australian International Motor Show in October; the news is that the go-anywhere HiLux would be a part of Toyota’s stand. This beast has passed through the toughest and the most rugged tests in some of the world’s roughest environment and terrains.

This has been the first car to reach Magnetic North Pole which was an expedition which had been done for BBC’s Top Gear by James May and Jeremy Clarkson. This was even regarded as the perfect vehicle by scientists who used it in order to set up monitoring equipment near the Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Driving to the pole involved passing through the extreme terrain and temperatures which was as low as -36oC for which this car with a double-cab 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, was designed specially to make it adaptable to the conditions therein.

The dangers which had to be confronted included the polar bears besides getting hit by some hidden blocks of ice that could have transmitted large shocks in the suspension. On several occasions the HiLux was sent airborne due to the terrain.

Moreover it is clear that there was an ample measure of the challenge HiLux could go through for which it was designed, passing which it became the 1st car which has reached the Magnetic North Pole.

This also proved to be the perfect transport for going through the roughest of the terrains for the scientists racing up to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.
