There is no doubt that Toyota Prius is one of the best selling cars in the world. Hence, Toyota has now decided to take the Prius competition to the next level by unveiling the new members of the Prius family at the 2011 North American International Auto Show. There are two new Prius cars that Toyota launched today at the show and they are Prius V and Prius C. the Prius V vehicle is going to get a better reception from the people that’s what the critics feel because Prius V is a midsize hybrid vehicle that is designed for active urban family while Prius C is more like an inspiration for Toyota to make such hybrid cars in the future.

Toyota Prius is one of the largest selling cars in Australia and there are many generations of Prius available in Australia since mid 2009. Bob Carter, Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager said that Toyota Prius is no ordinary car and these two new cars will add to the Prius family. He further explained that Prius V is a dedicated hybrid vehicle but since it belongs to Prius family it will have all the attributes that are available in Prius cars. The first Toyota Prius was launched in Japan in 1997 and in Australia in 2001 and it has more than 2 million users worldwide.

Talking about the Toyota Prius V it stands for Versatility and therefore it will be more preferred by families who want something for everyone in the car. The Prius V will have the same Hybrid Synergy Drive technology that is available in current Prius models. However, Prius V will have 50% more cargo space than the current Prius. It has been designed carefully to provide maximum aerodynamics and it registered 0.28 Cd in the wind tunnel. The shape of Prius V has evolved from the current Prius vehicles running on the roads. Since it has been made for the family comfort the inside is more spacious and comfortable for the entire family. It has the cargo space of 34.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats which is almost the cargo space of SUV. The seating is excellent for five people with 45 degree angle recline for greater comfort. Prius V is also fuel efficient and provides 42 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway.

On the other hand, Prius C is more compact and only for those who look for superior fuel economy. The Prius C stands for City and it made for urban shoppers who like easy driving and parking when they are in the car. The Prius C has its own on-board recharging system and therefore drivers never need to look for recharging stations. Prius C is said to give 20 kilometers on battery power at the speed of 100kmph. The battery does not have more weight and that helps the car to move faster even when it’s on battery.
